Bridezilla Goes Gaga for Gaultier

We've been keeping a close eye on the Fashion Week posts at our favorite blogs, and there were no surprises so pleasant as avant-garde couturier Jean-Paul Gaultier's ascent into bridal madness as he closed his Spring 2008 ready-to-wear collection with thirteen pirate-inspired wedding confections, including the saucy ensemble to the left. We say ethereal. We're not nuts about the big bow and layered skirt, but there are lessons to take away from this: this season, it's elbow length gloves or bust, and abbreviated veils mean modernity with a hint of vintage charm. You want a memorable wedding dress? Try sheer tulle and a train that has more in common with a cape than an aisle-duster. One thing's for sure, with this profusion of socks, gloves, belts, and hats, this will be the season of the well-accessorized bride.
