Four Uncommon Honeymoon Destinations

newzealandview.JPG Inspired by our own Weird Weddings series, how about a few wild honeymoon ideas? If you're keen to skip Cancun or other tourist traps, get inspired to visit one of these out-of-the-way destinations, but beware - you might want to pack your Y-3's and leave the Manolos in the closet.

New Zealand

newzealandhoneymoon.jpg Ready to get away from it all...but not that far away? If you need a break from the sparkling city, take it out in the middle of nowhere without leaving luxury behind. The Matakauri Lodge outside of Queenstown offers fabulous villas, and with those kinds of roaming charges, you can feel fine tossing your cell phone in the bottom of the suitcase and enjoying the scenery (pictured above). And the spa!

Carcassonne

carcassonne.jpg Forget Paris - what's chicer than a medieval city? Carcassonne, France is a walled metropolis of castles, cathedrals, abbeys, churches, towns, and fortified villages. The Hotel de la Cite offers a fabulous view and a sweet Winter Romance package for those honeymooning between November and March. Our Louboutins don't love the cobblestone streets, but the gorgeous gardens can't be beat.

Vietnam

princess_d'annam_villas5.jpg We're easy to please: simply say the words "all villa boutique resort" and we're practically there already. Vietnam's Princess D'Annam Resort might be a bit out of the way, but for beauty like this (not to mention eight swimming pools), we'll take the three hour commute from Ho Chi Minh City.

Katmandu

katmanduhoneymoon.JPGCombining luxury with gorgeous traditional Nepalese architecture, Dwarika's Hotel is a must for socially-conscious Bridezillas looking to support the preservation of Nepal's history - or, really, just looking to have a nice honeymoon in a gorgeous location.
