Bridezilla Dream Destinations: Venice

venicecanals.jpg Inspired by…well, ourselves, we’ve been thinking longingly this beautiful afternoon of a vacation in Venice. Palazzos, gondolas, and tasty Italian food? We’re practically there already.

Where to stay: We’re torn. As much as we like the idea of an extended holiday in Venice, we’re unsure about whether we want the unique experience of playing house in a rented villa, or the unapologetic luxury of a fine hotel. Fellow Bridezillas, take your pick.
Those who wish to pretend they’re Venetian for a week or two will enjoy the creature comforts of this fine apartment. We think perhaps you could appreciate a good meal here:

Or even cook one, if you’re so inclined:

And really, we’re not nuts about the pink wallpaper, but that bed – that bed:

Rather spend a few days in a hotel? We recommend you make it one of the suites at the Boscolo Hotel Bellini:

But then again, we’re suckers for a nice fruit plate.

What to drink: Bellinis, bellinis, bellinis. Invented in Venice, this classic concoction of white peach juice and Prosecco should absolutely be enjoyed in excess. For maximum cache, take yours at Harry’s Bar on the terrace, where this glorious drink was first created. Bridezillas who favor their alcohol concentration in the thirtieth percentile and up will have a good time with grappa.

What to wear: We can think of no better style icon to emulate than Gwyneth Paltrow in The Talented Mr. Ripley, which was partially filmed in Venice (the Caffe Florian in particular).
