Bridezilla Dream Destinations: Zurich

Chocolate, clocks, and pleasant neutrality – for the tightly-scheduled, sugar-craving, patently pacifistic Bridezilla, what could be better?

Where to Stay:
Baur au Lac: We can’t help it – we like being catered to. The Baur au Lac Hotel in Zurich has a lovely honeymoon package complete with fruits, flowers, and candy from their in-house chocolatier when you arrive. The suites themselves, with a romance-ready color scheme of red and gold, maximize the ambience. And you can’t ask for a better location; from the rooms overlooking the lake to the beginning of the Bahnhofstrasse right outside the door, this hotel has it going on. They even do weddings!
What to do:
Shop: What do Bridezillas always do? We shop, therefore we are. Let the new husband go off in search of a genuine Swiss Army Knife while you hit the Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich’s ritziest boulevard. Shop Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton, and even Diesel while sending the hubby off in search of a nice Swiss clock or two, and if he comes back with a cuckoo, we’re willing to accept kitsch as fair trade for Damier Azur.
Eat Luxemburgerli: After a long day of shopping the Bahnhofstrasse, you’ll need to refuel, and that calls for fancy Swiss cookies. Don’t go far, though – the best place to get Luxemburgerli, small macaroon-like confections with rich cream fillings in the center, is at the Confiserie Sprungli right on the avenue. Try the champagne, amaretto, or Straciatella (chocolate chip).
Go out: The Swiss love their nightlife, so get into your best Bond girl getup (inspired by Swiss actress Ursula Andress) and have a glass or two of sparkling white wine at the bar or club of your choice. After all, you have to wear your new shoes somewhere!
